I. What exactly is CampusBookTrade.com? Campusbooktrade.com
(CBT) is an Internet website that will allow college students
all around the country to buy and sell used textbooks online.
It can be thought of as a meeting place for students that
want to buy or sell books, but do not know who to turn to.
II. Why use CBT? There are two very simple ideas behind
CBT: #1: SAVE MONEY when you buy your textbooks #2: GET MORE
MONEY when you sell your textbooks !! There is no catch to
it. If you buy your books through CBT, you WILL save money!
And if you sell your books through CBT, you WILL get more
money than selling it at the campus bookstore! NO MORE WAITING
IN LONG LINES!!!
III. How is it possible to save money when buying books
and get more when selling? The concept behind how CBT
works is basic. When you buy used books at the campus bookstore,
you are paying the premium price for that book. You see, for
a long time colleges realized that you need them to buy textbooks
because it was very difficult to buy these books elsewhere.
Thus, they added a premium to the cost of the books, even
used books. But now, by buying it directly from another student,
we are eliminating that premium and allowing you the opportunity
to keep that difference. Campus bookstores buy low and sell
high because they realize how vulnerable you are. So, they
take advantage of you. Check this out:
- Jack buys a new Macro-Economics book from the campus bookstore.
His bill is $85.00! At the end of the semester, Jack wishes
to sell the book. The campus bookstore agrees to pay him $40.00
for it. Jack reluctantly takes the money, believing that he
has no other choice but to accept the $45.00 loss.
- Jack’s friend, Mindy, places the same book on sale on at
CBT’s website, and Hillary buys the book for $55.00! The same
book, the same shape, but Mindy got $15.00 more.
- The bookstore sells to Mike the same book that sold to
them, used, for $65.00. Who got a better deal, Hillary or
Mike? Of course, Hillary did, because she saved $10.00.
In both cases, CBT offered the better deal. The only ones
taking the loss are the people at your campus bookstore, but
don’t worry about them, they take enough from you as it is!
IV. What sets CBT apart from all the other guys? If
you are asking this question, then you do not really understand
what CBT is, and you probably have not read what is above.
CBT is a website designed BY college students FOR college
students that revolutionizes the way college textbooks are
bought and sold. No longer will students be forced to purchase
their textbooks from the overpriced campus-run bookstores.
CBT creates a new medium for campus book trading to go through.
These OTHER guys do NOT offer this service. They try to sell
you new books at prices that look almost exactly like the
campus’ prices. All we do is put you in contact with someone
that has the book you are looking for and wants to sell it
to you for a fair price, so that he can make more while you
save more.
V. Will CBT be available for use at any college or university?
We hope to get CBT up and running for every campus in the
nation! At the beginning, however, we are focusing our effort
at the University of Maryland and Rutgers University. If you

open CBT to your school as well.
VI. When will CBT be available? We are trying to get
CBT up and running for the end of the Spring Semester 2000.
If this is not possible, be ready to visit our site for the
Fall Semester of 2000. VII. Is CBT easy to use? YES! This
is the best part about CBT: it is extremely easy to use. All
you have to do is choose your school and the course name,
and Wah Lah ! – all the information you need is before your
eyes.
